My name is Grace I own Grace & Wellness, LLC. There is an about section for therapist that I keep up to date on any new techniques that I get trained in. I am always looking for something new to learn. If you are interested in a certain technique tell me about it and I will do my research to see if it would fit in my practice and if I don't feel it does. Then I will be more than happy to find someone in the area that I could referrer you too.
I am married, have a wonderful husband who works hard as a mechanic. We have an adorable/handsome son who used to come to work with me when he was younger. He goes to an in home daycare when I am at work. We love the summer, because we are able to ride our motorcycles, cruise in our cars, and go to car shows. When I work on Saturdays in the summer and it is nice, sunny, and warm you will see my bike at the office. I love reading, and enjoying the sunshine with my son and husband. We also have two cats. I love all animals, but would say that I am more of a cat person. They are easier to take care of.
How I got into massage. When I was younger I was able to go to Germany for a full year to do an internship of my choice. Which is an amazing experience. At the time I wanted to be an Occupational Therapist. I worked at a famous Neurological Rehab Center in Germany with both the Physical and Occupational Therapist. I noticed when I was there that they had massage as part of the rehabilitation. Now at the time I didn't think much of it besides 'that's awesome. I wish America allowed this.' When I got back to the states I started college and ended up on a 4 year waiting list to get into the OT program. I didn't want to wait 4 years and have a lot of debt, so I googled massage, as in high school my friends told me I was good. I found Blue Heron Academy (which is a wonderful vocational school). I was planning to do the 6 month massage course just so I can get a good paying job to help pay down the student loans and maybe pay for my courses. Well I ended up going there for 2 years and getting multiple certifications. I never looked back to become an OT. I fell in love with massage.
It took me 2 years of working for Chiropractors, and other massage therapist before I realized that I wanted to start my own business. I wanted to rely on myself and not someone else to work on bringing clients in. Oct 1st, 2014 is when I founded Grace & Wellness, LLC. I love being able to work with my clients and set up accounts (plans) that is affordable to them so they can come in to get treated, and feel better, without braking the bank. If someone needs to come in 1 or more times a week I work with my prices. I believe massage is a need not a want.
During my 1st year in practice I had to go onto maternity leave for about 12 weeks. I was able to find a wonderful therapist that attended the school I went to; to help me out during that time. When I came back she was able to watch my son while I worked for 3 days a week for about 5 hours each of those days in exchange for rent. Annette has decided recently to go off on her own. I wish her best of luck.
Jamie has wanted to start her own practice for sometime and is currently working with me until she grows big enough to start off on her own if she wishes. She will be in the office Wednesday - Saturday.
My business has been going on for almost 2.5 years and we are ready to expand to a new and larger space. May 1st 207 we will be in a larger space off of 44th street. We plan to be there for 7 years. So no worries about us moving for a long time.
I have many goals and plans for Grace & Wellness, LLC for the future. I will occasional write about these goals, ideas, and plans here. One of my many goals is to have a location for other therapist new, or experienced who want to start out on their own but don't know where or how to start. I would love to be able to mentor them, and to have a place for them to grow and learn.
Have a wonderful day!
